Aimed at residents, tourists and lovers of the Burgundy region, this tailor-made app combines the discovery of wines and vineyards, gastronomy, heritage and the remarkable sites of Saône-et-Loire.
The genesis of Route 71
The will of the region was to include a network of more than 150 wine-growing municipalities between Beaune and the north of the Lyon conurbation in order to boost the local economy thanks to the promotion of all the riches of the basin (cultural activities and sports, gastronomy, Romanesque heritage in particular, vineyards, etc.) and to digitize everything so that visitors can trace their own route, generate their own agenda and live an exhilarating experience in Saône-et-Loire.
Route 71 Bourgogne du sud is an evocative mark of the imagination of travel, it opens up the wine tourism project to all components of tourism (hotels, gastronomy, heritage, events, etc.).
In what context did EtOH Digital intervene?
The wine routes created in the 80s and 90s are starting to age, the Department of Saône et Loire had the will in 2018 to give it a second wind thanks to digital technology. This is when the idea of a wine tourism application was born! In this context, expert in the field of tailor-made applications related to the wine, beer and spirits sector, EtOH intervened to carry out this ambitious project.
The EtOH Digital work methodology
- Workshop: the strategy, the resources, the human means, the ROI sought and the continuation of the project.
- Strategic recommendations and commercial proposal: terms, graphic environment, technological choices.
- Getting started in the form of a sprint: identification of needs, modeling, customer validation, development and deployment, testing and validation.
- Deployment and handling by Edovino with training to then be able to be autonomous.
The Route 71 project
We have created a wine tourism application and we have linked it to our EtOH API with a cache that allows you to fetch data from the database owned by the region in order to reduce the data loading time. The data held by the department is therefore linked to the EtOH API in order to avoid too many round trips.
The main objective of this application was to succeed in taking the leadership of innovative image in the way of proposing an offer which is personalized and to demonstrate that southern Burgundy is much more convivial, rich in activities and offers than other wine-growing areas.
The Route71 application was created in 2019 to encourage the discovery of Saône-et-Loire (wine, heritage, catering, accommodation, agenda, experience).
What were the requests?
- Phase 1: Creation of a mobile application or PWA (Progressive Web Application) and a database.
- Phase 2: Hosting the mobile application or PWA and the database
- Phase 3: Maintenance of the mobile application or PWA and the database.
- Phase 4: Drafting of specifications for the technical deployment, in parallel with the development of the application, of a network of digital contact points.
- Phase 5: Update of the contents of the application or PWA and the database.
The application is a PWA, i.e. a progressive web application. It is a mobile website that can be found on any browser by typing: www.route71.fr. The advantage is that this application is not downloaded to your mobile so it does not take up space.
App features
- Personalized map with points of interest.
- A person (app user) can make a route to a point of interest thanks to a redirection on google maps: works on the app only, not the back office.
- A chat function is present: it allows any user to be able to chat with the person who claimed possession of the point of interest.
- Application data is retrieved from decibel data.
Back office features
It allows to manage the users of the application by allowing the assignment of roles to users by the administrator:
- Create events
- Create routes
- Assign a point of interest to its owner
